

Located where the woods meet the plains and 20 miles east of Albuquerque along Interstate 40, the Town lies at the intersections of I-40, State Road 66 (part of the original Route 66), and State Road 344. Much of the regional population east of Albuquerque comes to Edgewood for shopping, dining, and entertainment. Approximately 46 square miles of land located in southern Santa Fe and eastern Bernalillo Counties. Originally known as Venus, the Town of Edgewood was incorporated in 1999. The Town's commercial district includes four service stations, a Smith’s grocery store, a super Walmart, three pharmacies/drug stores, several restaurants, medical offices and a variety of retail, video rental, and professional services operations. A 10 screen movie theatre is planned for 2009

Attractions and Events
Area attractions include Wildlife West Nature Park, a wildlife refuge, state-of-the-art native wildlife zoo, and entertainment venue, and the Single Action Shooting Society's Founders' Ranch, at which several major events are held every year to celebrate the heritage of the Old West. Several events are held annually at Wildlife West, including the Annual Wind Festival; a major summer music festival; a mid-summer Bear Fair; a community melodrama; Barn Dances, a series of Chuck Wagon Dinners; and the Fall Harvest Festival. The SASS Founder's Ranch presents a number of festivals, perhaps most notable of which is their annual End of the Trail event, which brings together the SASS national membership and is open to the public. Each year the Town celebrates its incorporation with the Run, Rally, and Rock event, held primarily at Wildlife West. For more info see: www.eastmountaininfo.com Conveniently located to the west of Edgewood, the Sandia Mountain Wilderness, which includes the Sandia Peak Tramway and Sandia Peak Ski Area, boast miles of ski and hiking trails and numerous picnic areas. The equestrian community has worked to help establish a series of trails for horseback riding in the Edgewood area. Cross country skiers and snowshoe enthusiasts find plenty to do in the wide open spaces in and around Edgewood. Edgewood and the surrounding area provide plenty of fun for cyclists and mountain bikers, and golfers will enjoy the course at nearby Paako Ridge.

Edgewood Mid School
Edgewood is located within the Moriarty-Edgewood School District, which has a good academic record. There are currently three elementary schools and one middle school in Edgewood, with the area high school located in nearby Moriarty. See www.eastmountaininfo.com
